Hot Prom Jewellery Trends for Summer 2017

It’s nearly the end of the school year, and for many young people, their thoughts are turning to the school prom. It’s a big event in any young person’s social calendar, and rightly so. And of course, this means getting the look just right, too.

You may have your dress already. You may even have your bag and shoes. But have you thought about how you’re going to accessorise your look? Here are the top prom trends, as brought to you by your local jeweller in Ilford.

Traditional prom jewellery will never go out of fashion. It’s usual to accessorise your prom dress with sparkle, and plenty of it, and 2017 will be no exception to this.

If you want to stick to the traditional look, think about statement pieces of jewellery that are pure sparkle. Drop pendant earrings, large statement necklaces made purely of crystal and gemstones that sit flat against the collarbone, and sparkly cuff bracelets.

Dainty is a big prom jewellery trend this season, with plenty of delicate, multi-layered necklace chains being seen to be worn with V-neck and scoop-neck dresses.

Team these multiple chains around your neck with strands of dainty bracelets around your wrist, too. These tend to be purely metallic pieces with very little sparkle. Think less is more with this look: yes, multi-layering is the key to pulling off a dainty look with a bit of sass to it, but you don’t want to add bling to it too, as this will tip it over from classy to brash.

Of course, the current trend in jewellery and fashion is quite edgy, and you might want to carry this look through to your prom style, too. If so, it’s quite a simple thing to do: team a very thin choker with a plain, straight dress, and you’ll have an edgy look instantly.

If you’re not sure how to dress up this trendy style to make it prom worthy, it’s worth taking stock of chokers and other trendy accessories available at your local jewellers. If you want something that’s somewhere in between edgy and traditional, why not go a little bit quirky? Choose a low backed dress, and then opt for a back necklace. This is different enough to be remembered, but traditional enough to not be completely ‘out there’ in the fashion stakes.

Alternatively, why not opt for a beautiful hairpiece instead of a traditional necklace or bracelet? If you want something entirely different, speak to your local jeweller in Ilford about creating a custom prom hairpiece just for you.

It doesn’t matter what your prom style is defined as, you’ve got to be comfortable and confident in your look.
