Long Live the Long Necklace

The long necklace has long been a staple of every fashionista’s wardrobe. It’s been a bit of a shock therefore to see the long necklace fall out of fashion’s favour over the past few years, and also explains why we’re so pleased to see that they’re back with a vengeance for summer 2016!

Yes the long necklace is back, hurrah! And we couldn’t be more pleased here at EK Jewellers. Loughton fashionistas, why not get your long necklace fix through us this summer? Make sure you know the new trends taking the long necklace by storm this season.

Tonnes of Tassels

Tassels dangling enticingly from the end of long necklaces are going to be big this summer. Most will be made of gold or silver thread or chains, but feel free to wear coloured and fabric tassels too.

Tassels – and long necklaces in general – always have that slightly boho feel, so they’re great for teaming with maxi dresses and this season’s off the shoulder Bardot style tops.

Lovely Layers

As an experienced jeweller in Loughton, you’ll have regularly heard us talking about layering necklaces. This season’s long necklaces, however, will often be in-built with different layers.

The layers don’t necessarily have to be the same, either. You might find that modern long necklaces have two layers of fine chains, followed by one strand of coloured beads, then some slightly bigger beads in a different colour, and don’t forget the all-important tassel to top it off!

For something bespoke, why not turn to EK Jewellers, Loughton creative jewellery lovers? We can either create something from scratch, change existing long necklaces into one piece or, if you’d like a bit more flexibility within your jewellery, choose separate long necklaces which you can then layer together.

Perfect Pull-Throughs

Pull through necklaces are also back! We haven’t seen these for a few years, but we’ve always loved them. Pull-through necklaces are those which consist of one long length of chain with an open circle or oval at one end to pull the loose end through, creating a necklace which sits close to the neck but has a long length overall.

Delicate Drops

Delicate drop necklaces lend themselves so well to the long length. Choose a slim design, maybe one which ends in a tear drop or small solitaire diamond on the end for a classic, timeless look.

No matter what style suits you best, long necklaces are easy to wear and extremely stylish. For more tips, visit your independent jeweller in Loughton. Here at EK Jewellers we’re happy that the long necklace lives on!
