The Beauty of Rose Gold

Rose gold came to popularity a few years ago and has since taken the jewellery world – and the world in general – by storm. It’s a great compromise between yellow gold and white gold, very soft and feminine and the perfect colour to go with any outfit. So, if you’re wondering “is rose gold still in style for 2022?” the answer is yes: and its beauty is better than ever!

What is rose gold?

Rose gold is an alloy made from pure gold and copper. Most commonly, rose gold is made from 75% pure gold and 25% copper. It’s the colours of the two metals which gives rose gold its beautiful, soft pink colour. Combining the two metals to create an alloy also changes the gold’s karat. The 75% gold and 25% copper ratio makes 18 karat rose gold, for example.

It’s the lovely pink colour which has made it so popular over the last few years. Rose gold has become an extremely popular colour, for everything from necklaces to watches, phones to laptops even, and rose gold jewellery therefore is very popular.

Is rose gold making a comeback?

If you’re wondering “is rose gold out of style?”, then we’re here to tell you that it’s never really been out of style at all! Yes, the focus of rose gold may have moved away from jewellery pieces and towards the likes of the latest technology, but that doesn’t mean that it’s ever needed to make a comeback on the jewellery front.

In recent months, we’ve seen plenty of charm bracelets, necklaces and earrings, for example, made out of rose gold. It’s definitely still one of the most popular metal choices for jewellery, and you can wear your rose gold pieces with pride.

Is rose gold classic or trendy?

The simple answer to whether rose gold is classic or trendy? It’s a bit of both!

We’ve seen lots of very modern pieces made with rose gold of late. Stacking rings and snake link charm bracelets, for example. We’ve also seen it combined with complementing precious stones for a sparkly look which is both elegant and up-to-date at the same time. There are so many ways to wear rose gold that it really can follow all of the latest trends and work beautifully for classic pieces, too.

Will rose gold be timeless?

Time will tell whether rose gold will be timeless. Whilst most people still opt for yellow or white gold for the likes of wedding and engagement rings, there’s nothing to say that you can’t choose a rose gold ring as a softer alternative. Similarly, many watches are made with rose gold, and as timepieces are often seen as investment pieces, it could be that in future years, these rose gold pieces are seen as timeless antiques.

The beauty of rose gold is that it’s almost like a neutral in terms of its colour palette. This means that it can be worn with many outfits without the need to worry about whether it goes with the colours within the outfit. This is particularly useful if wearing gold or silver elsewhere within your outfit, for example as part of a belt buckle. It’s this neutrality which will give rose gold its timeless air.
